If you are on the hunt for a good 4K TV, but can’t quite afford the luxury of a Sony Bravia, the Sony 75 inch X80K is a great alternative. This entry level model comes with the Google TV OS, giving users access to favorite streaming apps. It also includes voice control through the Google Assistant. You can search for content and use gestures to control the TV.
The Sony X80K is a decent all-round performer. With an IPS panel, you’ll get good color and good viewing angles. However, the contrast isn’t as strong as you’d like and the HDR peak brightness isn’t as high as you’d expect.
The X80K doesn’t support a variable refresh rate, which is necessary for smoothing gameplay. In addition, the Sony X80K doesn’t have HDMI 2.1 ports, which is useful if you plan on gaming. Likewise, there’s no local dimming or G-Sync. But it does support standard HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision.
